Warning – You Might Not Like This

Update
(first posted March 1, 2016)
As things grow darker around us, we have the increasing opportunity to shine brighter for Jesus. That’s the good news. The bad news is that our enemy has a special strategy that works especially well in the darker times. If you have been following any of the coverage of the presidential campaigns you have seen the plan in action.  I hope that you have read the article by Max Lucado but if not please take a minute to read it → here and then come back. The acceptable standard is plunging within the Christian community. Are you baffled? I have been stunned. What we are seeing is the result of a simple two-step plan.

Step 1

Some leaders in the Christian community gradually drop their standards because they are following the current culture instead of Jesus Christ. So those who are following the leaders drop their standards also.

Step 2

Dark times come and many go willingly, even enthusiastically into the darkness.

But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come:  For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,  unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,  having a form of godliness but denying its power.                                                      -2 Timothy 3:1-5    NKJV

Remember the lyrics of  “Stay Strong” by Newsboys?   Video

Who are you?

Who are you serving?

We must stand strong and keep our eyes on Jesus and not be swayed by an evil ploy.

I pray that we will shine in the darkness.

Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever.          -Daniel 12:3 NKJV

Update

The above blog post is from March 1, 2016. Today is May 4, 2016. In the past 2 months, we have seen the escalation of moral decline in the United States increase at an even faster rate than we would have thought possible. Last night the 2016 election was the big news and this morning many of us are sensing the call to prayer.

I urge you to stay close to Jesus. Get into the Word and pray. We need to be hearing what God is saying and live our lives by the Spirit in faith. Hard times approach but they offer many opportunities to shine for Jesus. This is our time and God will equip us with what is needed. Let us be the ambassadors that we are called to be and walk daily with the King.

Update September 27, 2016

I am not surprised by the presidential election campaign circus in these past months. But, I am surprised about the eager involvement of Christian leaders in this. Many have become part of a desperate alliance.  The purpose of the alliance is to join together in support of a candidate who is believed to be the best choice for Christians.

Philip Yancey expresses it well in less than 3 minutes

How did we get here?

“THE PROMISCUOUS CHURCH & HER PART-TIME LOVERS”

If ever there was a time for revival, certainly it is now.

I pray that we will choose to put our trust in God alone.

BEAUTIFUL and WISE message here. I’m beside myself really.. with what is happening to our country. I am in shock that we have spiraled down this far. “Stay close to Jesus”… yes. Let’s shine His Light everywhere we can.

It strengthens my faith when I see all the discord. It seemed like before, even if we disagreed, we were loving and kind. Cordial. More and more, I cling to Jesus.
