The Pursuit of God
I don’t read very many books more than once.
I have just finished reading The Pursuit of God for the third time. It is well worthy of being classified a Christian Classic.
A.W. Tozer was a pastor and author who wrote many books.
It’s hard to believe that this book was originally published in 1948. It reads as if it was written last week. Amazingly it seems that the best writing is timeless.
The absolute importance of living in daily real awareness of God is a major focus in this book. There is a strong clear call to the abiding life.
Tozer’s writing is deep and rich but yet simple and so practical. Within the pages of this short book are words to transform your life.
Each of the ten chapters ends with a prayer. I took special note of these prayers while reading this time and plan to use them as prompts in my own prayer time.
I recommend having a pencil, highlighters or notebook handy while reading. This book is short and could actually be easily read in one sitting. However, reading it slowly would be the better choice. Allow yourself time to soak in the nourishment from each page. You may find more here than what you expect and especially when you read it more than once.
I consider The Pursuit of God a must-read for all believers and would recommend for sharing with others also.
…the presence of God is the central fact of Christianity. At the heart of the Christian message is God Himself waiting for His redeemed children to push in to conscious awareness of His presence.
This book has a spot on my very small shelf of Favorites.
I would like to thank Moody Publishing for providing a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
