2022 is almost here!
We have reached the end of the 2021 New Testament Reading Plan.
That means it’s time to decide on a reading plan for 2022.
It is vitally important that you are in God’s Word daily. That’s why having a plan is necessary.
I hope you will take the time to prayerfully select a plan for Bible reading in 2022.
The purpose of this post is to encourage you to make a choice and to provide you with a few options to explore.
Reading Quickly
If you have never read the Bible in a short period of time you should consider it.
A few months ago I read through the Old Testament in 38 days. I will write a separate post about this later but for now, let me just say that it is a great way to read. Reading the Bible in a short time means you see the whole story instead of bits and pieces. This is especially true if you read it in Chronological order.
Note: here is the post I wrote about reading the Bible quickly- Binge Read the Bible–
Here is a Chronological Plan for reading the entire Bible in 90 days – Bible Reading Plan 90 Days –
Bibles for Yearly Reading
There are a number of Bibles designed for reading in a year. This makes reading simple with no plan to follow because the pages are dated.
The One Year Bible from Tyndale has daily readings from the Old Testament, New Testament, Psalms, and Proverbs. This design offers a nice variety to your daily reading.
There is also a version of the One Year Bible in Chronological order. This is a favorite of mine because I prefer to read the Bible in chronological order.
There are many different versions of this Bible to choose from– The One Year Bible –
Plans Online
A quick search online will result in many Bible reading plans. I will include one result here but of course, there are so many more if you want to do your own search. – 70 Bible Reading Plans-
Bible Gateway not only is wonderful to access the Bible online in different Bible versions/translations but they have a page of reading plans also – Bible Gateway Reading Plans –
Reading Slowly
The New Testament in a Year Reading Plan is one option for reading slowly.
Read less than a chapter a day to read the entire New Testament in a year.
Special features of this Plan:
– the books of the New Testament are read in different order.
– read the gospels throughout the year instead of one after the other
– the slow pace of the plan allows time to read and study without being rushed.
This plan is perfect for you if you want the time to dig deep, meditate on the scriptures, study, pray…
Also good to use if you do not have much time to read since you will only be reading about 20 Chapters each month. – New Testament in a Year Bible Reading Plan –
Main Sections Plan
This is a truly different way to read that offers the most variety. To follow this plan you will divide your Bible into 6 main sections. The sections are – Law – History – Poetry – Prophets – Gospels & Acts – Letters & Revelation
- Genesis
- Joshua
- Job
- Isaiah
- Matthew
- Romans
Read one or as many chapters as you want from each section. Adapt the plan to what suits you. I read the Bible this way once and enjoyed it. I selected 6 different colors of ribbon and tied them together. This is how I kept track of where I was in each section of the Bible. You could use 6 different bookmarks to accomplish this also.
Here is a picture of my old ribbon marker that worked very well for this reading method.
Once you have selected your Bible reading plan you should also decide if you want to be looking for anything special to take note of while reading. If you want to notice every verse that mentions a certain topic you should decide about that now and be prepared to mark or take notes of it as you read.
Enjoy the process of getting your plan in place, gathering any necessary materials and be ready to go on January 1, 2022.
Let’s get ready for 2022
Happy New Year!
