Who is joining me in reading the Psalms this month?

Using the 30-day plan is an easy way to keep the Psalms in your daily life. I am using the pretty bookmarks in my Bible. If I miss a day or more, I just read the Psalms for the current day. Usually, I read part of the daily Psalms first thing in the morning and the rest before bed at night.

My favorite daily Bible reading plan is the One Year Chronological Bible. In case you are interested in this plan, the month of May is a great time to start. Most of the readings are from the Psalms and it would be a wonderful place to begin.

Those of you who are following the Psalms 30-day reading plan see Psalm 25 as part of the reading on day 5. For those reading along in the One Year Chronological Bible reading plan, Psalm 25 was part of the daily reading on May 8th.

Today I want to bring your attention to this great Psalm and in particular one verse. Let’s zoom in on verse 14. There is so much in this one little verse!

The secret of the Lord is with those who fear Him,
And He will show them His covenant. – Psalm 25:14 NKJV

Let me also share the Amplified Bible and Amplified Classic Edition translations because they capture the point of the verse so well. Basically, both the AMP and the AMPC allow you to understand the meaning of many verses more easily without devoting extensive time in research. Of course when you have the time nothing is quite as wonderfully rewarding as the treasures you uncover by doing your own research!

The secret [of the wise counsel] of the Lord is for those who fear Him,
And He will let them know His covenant and reveal to them [through His word] its [deep, inner] meaning. – Psalm 25:14 AMP

The following is an excerpt from what Charles Spurgeon beautifully wrote about Psalm 25:14

“The higher spiritual life is necessarily a path which the eagle’s eye hath not known, and which the lion’s whelp has not travelled; neither natural wisdom nor strength can force a door into this inner chamber. Saints have the key of heaven’s hieroglyphics; they can unriddle celestial enigmas. They are initiated into the fellowship of the skies; they have heard words which it is not possible for them to repeat to their fellows. And he will shew them his covenant. Its antiquity, security, righteousness, fulness, graciousness and excellence, shall be revealed to their hearts and understandings, and above all, their own part in it shall be sealed to their souls by the witness of the Holy Spirit. The designs of love which the Lord has to his people in the covenant of grace, he has been pleased to show to believers in the Book of Inspiration, and by his Spirit he leads us into the mystery, even the hidden mystery of redemption.
