When The Meadow Blooms

Book           When The Meadow Blooms

Author        Ann H. Gabhart

Publisher    Revell

Rose Meadows becomes a widow when she loses her husband during the 1918 flu epidemic. She works as a milliner until she is diagnosed with tuberculosis. There is no other choice but to leave her two daughters, Calla and Sienna in a children’s home while she gets treatment.

Rose wants to be with her daughters again and the girls want to be reunited with their mother but so much is standing in the way. It all seems impossible.

This book starts off very sad because everything is an endless struggle for Rose and her daughters. But while there is much disappointment, heartbreak, and sorrow there is something stronger weaved throughout the story – faith- hope – and love

Rose’s brother-in-law, Dirk is a good man who may possibly hold the answer to their problems. But he has a past filled with heartache and scars that are much deeper than what can be easily seen.

There is a lot to this story including some mystery, suspense, and a little romance. Faith, hope, love, healing, trusting God, family, forgiveness, and starting over are all to be found in When The Meadow Blooms.

Sometimes life gave a person few choices.
Then, one had to make the best of whatever happened.

– Rose

All of the characters are very well developed. You will find yourself rooting for Rose, Calla, Sienna, and Dirk as you turn the pages of When The Meadow Blooms. And if you are encountering struggles in your own life you may well find the inspiration and encouragement you need to keep looking up!

This book would be a good choice for a book group. There is so much that would make for good discussions. I will be lending my copy to a friend and look forward to meeting with her after she reads it. I’m sure we will have plenty to share.

This is the first book that I have read by author Ann H. Gabhart. I have already added another of her books to my to-read list.

I would like to thank Revell, a division of Baker Publishing Group for providing a copy of this book to read and review. All opinions are my own.
