A well-known quote from Corrie ten Boom can be found in her book The Hiding Place.
“Joy runs deeper than despair”
– Corrie ten Boom
This truth was proven even in the darkest of places when Corrie and her sister Betsie were prisoners in the Ravensbruck concentration camp. Before her death, Corrie’s sister Betsie said “There is no pit so deep that God’s love is not deeper still.”
Corrie ten Boom’s message
After surviving the horrors of WWII, Corrie spent the remaining years of her life spreading the message that Joy runs deeper than despair and There is no pit so deep that God’s love is not deeper still.
We are children of God. We are set in the midst of the most glorious campaign into which man could ever enter. We are on the noblest road that the world has ever known. This life is a preparatory school, an antechamber of heaven. Our greatest joys are but the first fruits and the foretaste of the eternal joy that is coming.
Jesus . . . for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. – Hebrews 12:2
Lord, keep me close to Your heart so that Your joy becomes my strength.
