Scripture Writing in July

Next week will be the end of our 9-week scripture writing plan for June and July. I hope you are reading, writing, and enjoying an increased love of God’s word.

I just finished rereading a book that seemed to fit well with the scripture writing plan. I had read it many years ago but it seemed fresh and new to me. The book is A.W. Tozer’s well-known book The Pursuit of God

The quote below expresses what I pray you are experiencing as you spend time in the scriptures each day.

For it is not mere words that nourish the soul, but God Himself; and unless and until the hearers find God in personal experience, they are not the better for having heard the truth. The Bible is not an end in itself, but a means to bring men to an intimate and satisfying knowledge of God, that they may enter into Him, that they may delight in His presence, may taste and know the inner sweetness of the very God Himself in the core and center of their being, their spirit

Thanksgiving 2019

We need Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving tends to realign our thinking and correct crooked attitudes. A mind directed toward thanks and gratitude should be our normal way of thinking. But, as you know, it doesn’t take much to knock us off course and we soon start forgetting to give thanks on ordinary days.

If you have a Topical Bible you can look up thanksgiving and/or other similar words and find many verses. Select some favorites and keep them handy. Here is a link to an online Topical Bible – Thanksgiving

“Reflect upon your present blessings, of which every man has plenty; not on your past misfortunes, of which all men have some.”  – Charles Dickens

“This way of seeing our Father in everything makes life one long thanksgiving and gives a rest of heart, and, more than that, a gayety of spirit, that is unspeakable.” – Hannah Whitall Smith

“Gratitude is an offering precious in the sight of God, and it is one that the poorest of us can make and be not poorer but richer for having made it.”  – A.W. Tozer

Happy Thanksgiving!
