Description from back of the book

Young Scarlett has been wearing her grumbly glasses, which make for a grouchy girl and a gloomy day. But when Mom encourages her to look through her glad glasses instead, Scarlett finds a brighter day and a happy heart as she chooses to see all of God’s good gifts.

This delightful story encourages young readers to put down their own “grumbly glasses” and make the cheerful choice to see each day with a grateful heart!

Janet-SuretteThe author, Janet Surette is mother to Taylor the Strong, Avery the Good, and Scarlett the Loud. Janet combines the skills of being a Christian speaker, author, and blogger with the wisdom of motherhood to produce winsome messages that engage parents and children alike through rhyme, compelling imagery, and a bit of spunk that crafts timeless messages into memorable resources that instruct and delight. You can learn more about Janet at janetsurette.com

This is the first review I have done for a children’s book.

Today there is a growing selection of high-quality Children’s books with Christian themes. This category has been expanding in recent years and I’m thrilled to see the number of choices available.

Scarlett’s Spectacles is a very sturdy board book designed to be read over and over. Scarlett discovers the joy a good attitude brings after following her Mom’s advice. Each day is a new opportunity to make a cheerful choice!

The story is wonderful and so are the charming illustrations!

Whimsical fun with a serious message 🙂

I loved reading Scarlett’s Spectacles and hope to see more from Janet Surette and Shane Crampton in the future.

Happy?

Let me begin this post by sharing that I am not one who is easily impressed by new books. As a matter of fact, I feel that we have too many books being published at this time and most are not worthy of our time or money. In the categories of Christian Living and Personal Growth, it is rare to find a book that delivers what it claims in the description.  Thankfully there are exceptions.

The Happiness Dare  is a soon-to-be-released book by Jennifer Dukes Lee. The release date is August 2 but it is available now to Pre-order at a great price. I am enthusiastically adding this amazing book to my short list of favorites. I’m part of an online book launch group for The Happiness Dare allowing me to read the book in advance of the release date.

This book gets into the nuts & bolts of exactly how happiness happens for you.  You won’t just read but actually take action as you travel through the pages. You can start by taking the Happiness Style Assessment. Take the assessment and share your style in the comments.

“Let’s do this. Let’s be the happy rebels. Let’s be the lion riders. Let’s be the savorers and the tasters and the joy stalkers. Let’s embrace a way of life where we wake up to the present- tense moments, unafraid of what might happen tomorrow and untethered to the junk that happened yesterday. Right now, this instant, life is a path strewn with jewels, glistening as if they were moonbeams spilling out like diamonds on a lake. Do we see the sparkle under our feet and on the water?”
