Jesus, prayer

Disturb Us

 We often want to put out the “do not disturb” sign on our door life. It can be so nice to simply have time alone and not be bothered.

When you become a Christian, you willingly give up your own rights and serve King Jesus. Being a real Christian means living a life of surrender no longer self-focused but Jesus focused. See a recent post  Consider the Cost

Often we need to be disturbed in a way that helps us to grow and flourish spiritually.

Disturb Us, Lord

Disturb us, Lord, when
We are too pleased with ourselves,
When our dreams have come true
Because we dreamed too little,
When we arrived safely
Because we sailed too close to the shore.

Disturb us, Lord, when
With the abundance of things we possess
We have lost our thirst
For the waters of life;
Having fallen in love with life,
We have ceased to dream of eternity
And in our efforts to build a new earth,
We have allowed our vision
Of the new Heaven to dim.

Disturb us, Lord, to dare more boldly,
To venture on wilder seas
Where storms will show Your mastery;
Where losing sight of land,
We shall find the stars.

We ask you to push back
The horizons of our hopes;
And to push back the future
In strength, courage, hope, and love.

This we ask in the name of our Captain,
Who is Jesus Christ.

Bible, Bible reading plan

Psalm 19

ps. !9

Take a look at the first four verses in the NKJV and AMPC version.

The heavens declare the glory of God;
And the firmament shows His handiwork.

Day unto day utters speech,
And night unto night reveals knowledge.

There is no speech nor language
Where their voice is not heard.

Their line has gone out through all the earth,
And their words to the end of the world.    Psalm 19:1-4 NKJV

The heavens declare the glory of God, and the firmament shows and proclaims His handiwork.

 Day after day pours forth speech, and night after night shows forth knowledge.

 There is no speech nor spoken word [from the stars]; their voice is not heard.

 Yet their voice [in evidence] goes out through all the earth, their sayings to the end of the world.      Psalm 19:1-4 AMPC

Don’t you think it is amazing that God is speaking to us each day?

Look anywhere and He is to be found if you want to see.

Are you looking?

Elizabeth Barrett Browning says it so simply.

earth's crammed with heaven, and every common bush afire with god, but only he who sees takes off his shoes;the rest sit round a
